Ole a great advert

UNITED'S American shirt sponsors AIG should sign Ole Solskjaer up immediately as the front man for their advertising campaign.

The insurance company's ad slogan illuminated Old Trafford as the rotating pitchside hoardings delivered their message: `The Strength To Be There'.

It doesn't fit anyone better than the Reds' legendary Norwegian.

At the end of 2005, United were so concerned by the knee problems that had ruined almost three years of his career, that Sir Alex Ferguson admitted the club was considering arranging a farewell testimonial.

Goals at any level seemed a distant and unlikely prospect - let alone a bagging vital double in front of his own adoring fans to send the Reds back to the top of the Premiership.

While many harboured fears that Solskjaer's final United goal had been long since scored, the Norwegian refused to buckle under.

Lesser players would have given up the ghost as the years on the casualty list mounted. But, as the advert says, he had the strength of character to fight on and yesterday he showed he still has the nous to be there when it counts.
